Simon drives the Dolomites (east)

For Christmas 2001 I flew again with Page & Moy, this year staying in The Dolomites at the town of Dobbiaco.  This further North and East than Fiera del Primiero (1998), and the Austrian border was less than 20km from the town centre.  

My love of mountains was well satisfied this time, because I saw far more of the hunky  Dolomites than I had ever seen before, and an icy coating was the "icing on the cake" for me!!  This page will hopefully show some of these lovely forms.

On one very memorable day we set off for a drive around the Dolomites.  Temperatures had fallen to below minus 20C overnight and the fuel was freezing in the coach, so our outing was nearly abandoned after only a few miles.

But our driver got the bus going, and we were treated to an absolute delightful journey in brilliant sunshine, but freezing temperatures, going via Candini, Lago di Misurina, Auronzo to Cortina d'Amprezzo.
